He had wanted to garner the attention of his company as he was unhappy over a work dispute so he poured soil into one of the company lorry’s engine oil compartment.

What happened

The man who works for Integrated Infrastructure as a driver and lives in a dormitory at Sungei Kadut had gotten into a work dispute with his company sometime in March 2020.

While working for the company, he earned $465 a month and brought back about $1,000 nett after allowances and overtime.

On 21 March 2020 at about 2am, the man consumed two cans beer in the dormitory due to his frustrations over the work dispute.

He then decided to do something to get the company’s attention because he felt that they were not listening to him.

He then headed to the carpark at 3am, walked towards a company lorry and then poured soil inside the engine compartment.

Seeni knew that it will result in the lorry being damaged but he wanted the company to suffer losses.

The driver who was assigned to the damaged lorry then noticed smoke coming out of the lorry and the act of mischief was subsequently discovered after CCTV footage caught Seeni walking towards the lorry and carrying out the act.

He has so far paid $254.90 back to the company for costs it had incurred in the repairs.

A jail term of three months was sought by the prosecutor without any compensation due to Seeni’s low salary.

For his act of mischief, he could have been given a jail term of up to two years and/or fined.
