Have been working in current company for few years.
So far it has been great with the colleagues, projects and challenges. Due to some restructuring and co-workers leaving, I was transferred to another project.
The project dynamics and team was rather different from what I experienced before.
I felt there were many conflicts and politics among team members. It has been quite some time but I have not managed to adjust better.
Due to having been with the company for some years now, I was the point of contact for older projects and supporting new team members that just joined.
With all these added together, I felt stretched and difficult to work effectively and efficiently and constantly feeling unmotivated.
Have been contemplating taking a career break and pursuing some courses in the meantime to recharge and refresh. But was presented with an opportunity for promotion which I didn’t feel ready for.
With all these mixed emotions, how should I decide on this, take the career break or the promotion.
Here are what netizens think:
- You are telling me that you are having a buffet right in front of you, but you want to give it up for a smoking break?
- Do what will bring you happiness. Even 6 months in a hell job has long lasting effects on our physical and mental health. Will you choose health or money?
- Politics is everywhere. Only place without politics is mortuary. You be your own boss. Serve a very very quiet customer
- Take the promo first and then use it as a springboard for an even better opportunity elsewhere
