A 30-year-old man was arrested for a rash act involving a PMD rider on the afternoon of 2 February at Lorong 4 Toa Payoh.
The man had allegedly knocked down the gate of Victory Family Centre’s technical support centre with his Mercedes Benz.
The police said that no injuries were reported and that they are currently investigating the incident.
A witness, Ms Huang, told Shin Min Daily News that she saw the Benz hitting the gate following an argument between the driver and a PMD rider.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the car was driving along Toa Payoh East when the driver encountered the PMD rider, identified as a certain “Mr Harun”, as a pedestrian crossing near Victory Family Centre.
Harun spoke to the Chinese paper and said that he was on his way to pick up a food order at a nearby restaurant, when he got into an argument with the driver after riding across the zebra crossing.
He said that he should have priority at the zebra crossing but the Merc driver allegedly tried to drive in front of him, resulting in the enraged rider confronting the driver.
The driver and PMD rider later crossed paths again in front of Victory Family Centra’s technical support centre.
Harun was riding past just as the Mercedes was turning in, and the driver allegedly lunged towards the rider – the rider then dodged in time and the car ended up hitting the gate and knocked it down.
The rider added that the Mercedes driver then allegedly reversed and knocked into his PMD.
