Missing Singapore Man Found Dead In Waters Off Coney Island A Day After Disappearance

A 50-year-old Singaporean man who was reported missing earlier this week was found dead in waters off Coney Island less than 24 hours after he was last seen.

The man, identified as Tony Hou Wen Li, had been the subject of a police appeal after he was reported missing on June 23.

According to the appeal, Hou was last seen at around 5.20am in the vicinity of Block 178 Edgefield Plains in Punggol. At the time, he was wearing a dark-coloured shirt and shorts and was carrying a black backpack.

Police had sought assistance from members of the public in locating him following his disappearance.

Body Recovered Near Coney Island

In response to media queries, the Singapore Police Force confirmed that officers received a call for assistance at Coney Island at around 8.50am on June 24.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a body in the waters off the island.

The man was subsequently retrieved from the water and pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

The identity of the deceased was later confirmed to be that of the missing 50-year-old man.

No Foul Play Suspected

Based on preliminary investigations, police said they do not suspect foul play.

No further details regarding the circumstances leading to the man’s death have been released.

Public Appeal Issued Prior To Discovery

Before the discovery, police had circulated details of Hou’s disappearance in an effort to locate him.
