CNB Conducts Daring Raid on Motorcycle Shop in Yishun, Uncovers Large Stash of Illicit Substances
In a shocking turn of events, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) carried out a dramatic raid on a motorcycle shop located at Yishun Industrial Street 1 in the early hours of July 12. The operation, which took place at 1:11 am, was captured on CCTV footage and shared on Facebook, showcasing the intensity and swiftness of the CNB officers in action.
The footage revealed a seemingly ordinary scene outside the motorcycle shop, with two women enjoying a meal on a table outside the premises. However, the tranquility was short-lived, as a large black truck, a white car, and two motorcycles suddenly arrived on the scene, disgorging a swarm of CNB officers clad in thick helmets, masks, and bulletproof vests emblazoned with “Police” insignia.
With guns drawn and at the ready, the officers stormed into the shop, yelling “Get down!” and “Police!” repeatedly at the top of their lungs. A K9 Unit officer also joined the fray, with the police dog barking fiercely as it entered the scene. The sudden and loud intrusion caught two men standing outside the shop off guard, but they quickly complied with the officers’ orders and squatted to the ground, where they were apparently handcuffed.
In an unfortunate coincidence, a man on a red scooter who had just arrived at the shop was also caught up in the raid. The two women, who had been eating outside, appeared bewildered by the sudden turn of events, with one standing up in confusion before being ordered to sit back down by the officers. They were subsequently moved to a closer location, where they were kept under close surveillance by the CNB officers.
As the operation progressed, additional vehicles carrying CNB officers arrived on the scene to assist with the investigation. According to reports, the raid lasted until 11 am that morning, with at least 40 plainclothes officers collecting evidence and taking photos.
Rented Room in Shop Allegedly Used for Illicit Activities
Further investigations revealed that the motorcycle shop had rented out a room to a customer in October 2023, and it was allegedly this individual who was responsible for the stash of illicit substances seized during the raid. A supervisor at the shop claimed that he had not noticed anything unusual about the rentee in the months leading up to the raid and was caught off guard by the sudden turn of events.
The CNB and Singapore Police Force confirmed the raid in a statement to Lianhe Zaobao, revealing that a total of 975 grams of heroin, 40 grams of methamphetamine (also known as ice), and 30 grams of controlled substances in the form of pills were seized during the operation. The estimated value of the seized substances was S$107,400. A 43-year-old Singaporean man was arrested during the raid and subsequently charged with drug trafficking on July 13.
The daring raid by the CNB serves as a testament to the agency’s commitment to eradicating illicit substances from Singapore’s streets. The operation also highlights the importance of vigilance and cooperation from the public in preventing the proliferation of such activities.
