MOTORCYCLIST HITS CAR ON EXPRESSWAY, THEN FLEES WHEN DRIVER COMES OUT

A video emerged online showing a motorcyclist rear-ending a car on the CTE on 12 January at about 5.40pm.

The motorcyclist then almost fell onto the road as he lost control of his motorcycle, stopping to restart his motorcycle.

The driver of the camcar then alighted to inspect the damage done to his vehicle and while the driver was looking away, the motorcyclist hurriedly restarted his motorcycle and fled the scene.

The driver of the camcar said:

“Motorcyclist rear ended my car & the comfort taxi , immed tried to restart & flee”

Potential penalties

It is a punishable offence to leave the scene of an accident, which is considered a hit-and-run – upon conviction, first-time offenders face a fine of up to $3,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months.
