MRT BROKE DOWN (AGAIN) FROM GOMBAK TO CCK, SMRT: “WE APOLOGISE”

A train fault occurred on the North-South Line between Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang, on the southbound track on 8 July at about 5.40pm.

SMRT issued a statement explaining that it was due to a train fault, before apologising for affecting the commuters.

SMRT’s statement

At about 5.40pm today (8 July), a train fault occurred on the southbound track between Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang stations on the North-South Line. Our engineers were immediately activated to rectify the fault and to restore train services. Additional staff were also deployed to assist commuters at all affected stations.

We apologise for affecting your commute.

In-train and station announcements were made to inform commuters of additional train travel time of up to 25 minutes between Kranji and Jurong East stations. Free regular bus services were available between Woodlands and Jurong East stations.

At about 6.10pm, all commuters in the faulty train safely disembarked at Choa Chu Kang station. Three cars of the train had no lights. Once our commuters had safely disembarked, the train was withdrawn to the depot for investigations. Normal train services progressively resumed from 6.25pm.
