A 27-year-old Malaysian man has been sentenced to more than six months in jail after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s condo unit in Balestier not once, but twice within the same week.
The man reportedly used to date the 40-year-old woman for about a year and had previously visited her condo unit multiple times during the relationship. Because of that, he allegedly memorised the access code to her home before the couple eventually broke up in early 2025.
According to court proceedings, the situation escalated after he later contacted the woman asking to borrow S$1,500. She reportedly rejected the request, and things allegedly turned ugly shortly after, reported Shin Min Daily News.
Climbed Along Narrow Ledge To Enter Condo Unit
The first incident reportedly happened in November 2025 when the man entered the condo unit using the old access code. The woman later discovered damage to her balcony window handle and became worried about her safety.
Following the incident, the landlord reportedly installed CCTV cameras and changed the unit’s access code. However, that still did not stop him from allegedly returning days later.
Court documents revealed that the man climbed over a wall and railing before carefully walking along a narrow ledge to reach the balcony. He also allegedly pushed a CCTV camera away in an attempt to avoid being identified.
After entering the bedroom through the balcony, he reportedly stole designer items including a pair of Dior sunglasses and a Balenciaga belt worth a total of around S$1,200.
Police Recovered Stolen Luxury Items
The victim later noticed the balcony handle had been damaged again and reviewed the CCTV footage with her landlord before contacting the police.
Authorities eventually raided the man’s residence and recovered the luxury items. He was arrested several days later.
During sentencing, the judge reportedly highlighted that the victim had not received compensation and noted that the accused had committed another offence while already out on bail, describing his actions as serious and unacceptable.
The man was eventually sentenced to six months and four weeks’ jail for trespassing and theft offences linked to the Balestier condo incident.
