A netizen has shared on Facebook that he had wanted to download the recently popular Netflix series “Squid Game”, but ended up downloading something else instead.
A closer look at the poster of what the netizen claims that he downloaded wrongly showed the name of the show he downloaded to be “Squirt Game” instead.
The casts in the poster are also totally different from the original, with a few actresses replacing the original cast instead.
Squid game is a survival game where participants are picked from Korea, each with one common attribute. They all need money or they are in debt.
The series centres around a competition in which 456 players, all of whom are deeply in debt, risk their lives to play a series of lethal children’s games for the opportunity to win a 45.6 billion reward. The series’ title is based on a Korean children’s game of the same name.
Hwang came up with the notion after reflecting on his own early economic problems as well as South Korea’s class imbalance. Though he wrote it in 2009, he was unable to find a production firm to fund it until Netflix expressed interest in it around 2019 as part of their push to increase their foreign programming offerings.
In the first few episodes are meant to paint him in that light… then when we learn more about him, his job at the factory, his selfless nature etc. It’s meant to make us realise that some people are stuck in shit lives and act shitty because their lives are bad.
Spoiler
Even then, every time he won money the first thing he did was try and give a little bit of it to someone else.
He wasn’t a bad person because of who he was, he was a bad person because he was stuck in a bad situation.

It almost felt like they were two different people though. As we go on in the story he’s artificially turned into a saint by the show, his character does a complete 180 from how they introduced him. He let his mom work herself to death, stole money from her so he could drink & gamble all day, and was a horrible parent, but then, because he’s so desperate for money, he turns into the Pope and he suddenly has a good heart that everybody can see.
And I understand characters in a story learning from their experiences and changing for the better, having a character grow and change is fine, but the speed at which he’s sainted was a bit too quick (it’s 9 eps, so I guess they had to work fast).
I kind of wish they hadn’t spent so much time on him in the beginning, as it became fairly obvious he was wearing plot armor and wasn’t going anywhere. Had they spent time on some other characters that died early on, it would’ve felt a bit more unpredictable I think.
