Dear residents and friends, here’s some good news to brighten your weekend! We’re going to have a new MRT station in our estate!
LTA has just announced that it will build a new station between Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang MRT stations. To be called Brickland station (NS3A), the new addition on the North-South line will bring you greater convenience and connectivity. Located at Bukit Batok West Avenue 5, it will be within 10 minutes or less, of walking distance to those living in Goodview Gardens estate and Pavilion Park estate.
The new station will cut down travelling time from Bukit Gombak to the Central Business District, Jurong Lake District and Woodlands by some 15 minutes. In addition, it will be easier for you to get to popular spots like the Bukit Batok HomeTeam NS. Parents, students and staff of schools such as St Anthony’s Primary School, Swiss Cottage Secondary School and ITE College West can also look forward to better access and an improved commute with Brickland station.
As it will be built on an existing operational line, LTA conducted extensive studies to determine the location of the station and how construction can be carried out with minimal disruptions. To facilitate the construction works, a new viaduct, as well as crossover tracks, will be built to serve as a bypass for trains, while the new station is being developed.
LTA has advised that preparation works for the design and construction of Brickland Station will start next year and it aims to have the station ready by 2034. Construction of this station will take longer than usual, as most of the extensive work can only be done after train services on the North-South line have stopped. This means LTA has only about 3 hours each day to carry out the construction before train services resume in the morning.
Come 2034, when this newest station is up, we will have a total of four MRT stations including Bukit Gombak and Hillview as well as the upcoming Hume and Brickland in Bukit Gombak estate. That will put our residents in a good place in terms of connectivity and choice of commute.
I look forward to updating you further on this development as LTA shares more about its plans for the construction of the new MRT station.
Have a good weekend!
