A 28-year-old man in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, was stabbed to death outside his home on 11 August, in what police believe was a dispute that turned deadly.
According to Malaysian media, the suspect — a 31-year-old man — was caught by neighbours and tied up with a rope before officers arrived. Authorities confirmed that a murder investigation is under way, although they are still working to establish the full motive.
Sources told local news outlets that the victim was allegedly involved in an affair with the suspect’s wife. This claim, however, has not been officially verified by police.
Attack Happened Without Warning
Seremban district police chief Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the incident took place in the Senawang area. A member of the public called the police at about 6:50pm to report the stabbing.
Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene at 7:28pm. Investigators seized a knife believed to have been used in the attack.
The victim’s younger brother, Muhammad Amirul Hakim, recounted that they were chatting outside the house when a car pulled up. Thinking it was a friend, Hakim was shocked when the driver stepped out and stabbed his brother in the chest without saying a word.
Hakim tried to restrain the attacker, but the man attempted to flee. Neighbours intervened, caught him, and secured him until police arrived.
A Family in Shock
The victim, Muhammad Amirul Rasyid Mohd Niza, was a single father who had recently become engaged and was planning to remarry within the year. Hakim said his brother had been out walking with his child shortly before the attack.
Their mother fainted upon seeing the scene, and several of the victim’s 10 siblings were at home at the time.
The suspect is currently in police custody until 18 August. Authorities have appealed for anyone with information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
This case has sparked conversations in Malaysia and Singapore about violent crime and the dangers of personal disputes escalating beyond control.
