A Singaporean took to Facebook to share his job hunting experience recently. As we all know, the government came up with a Traineeship programme scheme to help employers hire more graduates. Salaries would be heavily subsidized by the government and no CPF would be given and there would not be any benefits as well for the hired employee.
One employer took advantage of this scheme and a Singaporean got his job offer rescinded and this was replaced with a traineeship offer instead.
This was what he shared on Facebook.
Hi Im a graduate of 2020. Got a job initially that offered and signed contract above average 3k+ with cpf, but bcoz of the Governments’ great initiative to push out Traineeship programme, all companies are now flocking to take advantage of it. I was not spared by the stupid government initiative either.
So now they want to sign me under Traineeship and lowball me 2.5k instead, no cpf and benefits. Yes there is legally binding, but bcoz every MNC like Singtel and Banks are now going for FREE LABOUR, HRs in MNCs out there knew fresh grads had no choice but to accept the new low of 2.5k.
They also told me that they want to give me extra allowance, but the government DOES NOT ALLOW them to give me extra money or CPF??? I don’t know how true it is and WHY the government would do that to me. I feel so unfair and betrayed that a large reputable company would go back on their words, when I in good faith pushed away other full time offers that payed above 2.5k, because I liked the job description and environment. Anyone out there same as me that got screwed by the government and HR?
