The Multi Ministry Taskforce (MTF) said that persons aged between 18 to 29 will now be allowed to get their Covid-19 vaccination booster shot from 14 December onwards.
They will be able to get their shots 5 months after their primary series vaccination regime.
This news comes in the wake of the new Omicron Covid-19 variant which carries a possible risk of high reinfection.
MTF highlighted that the vaccination and booster shots are the best protection against Omicron, which is at present still relatively unknown and very possibly highly transmissible.
They stressed the need to engance the protection against severe illnesses with the booster vaccination programme.
The total number of omicron cases in Singapore detected is 16, with 14 being imported and 2 being local cases who are service staff at the Changi Airport.
