According to the Police media release, a new scam variant that involves job and online gambling is out.
The messages are typically sent from an email address ending with “@163.com”
Job scams
The victims would receive an SMS promising a high salary, the job entails performing a simple task such as adding items into online shopping carts, liking social media posts, and performing bank transactions to receive commissions.
The victims would be promised a fee for tasks performed and the scammers would lead the victim into installing an application for “receiving commission payments”. However, no payouts are ever made.
Online Gambling scams
