POLICE NSF JAILED FOR 3 WEEKS AFTER POSTING TIKTOK WHICH CONTAINS PHOTO OF A CRIMINAL

 In the 21st century, social media is incredibly popular and has become an integral part of many people’s lives. Platforms like TikTok have become particularly popular.

The convenience of being able to post content quickly and easily on social media can lead to individuals making a mistake and posting something they shouldn’t. On TikTok, users can record a video and post it almost instantly, with no filter or moderation. This can lead to posts that are inappropriate, offensive or even illegal.

23-year-old NSF gets into trouble

According to CNA, 23-year-old Amirudin Shah Zainal posted a video on TikTok which contained a photo of his teammate in handcuffs.

The 23-year-old had illegally accessed Police systems and used his phone to take a photo of his teammate’s criminal information.

The Police received a tipoff from i-Witness, an anonymous submission site about the video and Amirudin soon found himself in hot waters.

He pleaded guilty to one count under the Computer Misuse Act for unauthorised access to data held in the computer system of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and was sentenced to 3 weeks in jail.

How did it happen?

The incident took place in 2020 while Amirudin was an NSF, he was given duties to perform data entries into the system and he used the access he was given to access cases despite knowing he is not allowed to.

He then access a photo of his teammate in the system who was in handcuffs and used his mobile phone to take a photo from the system.

He forwarded the photos to 17 others because he thought it would be fun to make fun of his teammate.

He later thought that it would be an even better idea to put it on TikTok.
