Singapore police have arrested five women following a series of enforcement operations targeting suspected vice-related activities at massage establishments in the Jurong and Boon Lay areas.
The operation was conducted on June 4 by officers from the Jurong Police Division as part of ongoing efforts to tackle unlawful activities operating under the guise of legitimate businesses.
According to the police, the raids were carried out at three separate massage establishments. One outlet was located within a shopping centre, while the remaining two operated from shophouse units situated in Jurong and Boon Lay.
The women arrested are aged between 36 and 51 years old. They are currently being investigated for offences under the Women’s Charter.
Authorities also revealed that three operators linked to the establishments are being investigated for possible breaches under the Massage Establishments Act 2017.
Large-Scale Enforcement Efforts Continue
Photographs released by the Singapore Police Force showed officers conducting checks inside the premises and interviewing individuals during the operation.
Investigations into the activities of the five women remain ongoing.
The latest operation forms part of a wider effort by law enforcement agencies to ensure massage establishments comply with licensing regulations and are not used for illegal activities.
Police have repeatedly stated that they will continue carrying out surprise inspections and enforcement actions across the island to deter vice-related offences and maintain public order.
Authorities Warn Against Illegal Activities
Assistant Commissioner Sergius Wat, Commander of Jurong Police Division, said the operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals allegedly involved in vice-related activities, while investigations into regulatory breaches by the operators are continuing.
He added that authorities are planning to strengthen the regulatory framework governing massage establishments later this year as part of efforts to curb unlawful activities.
The police stressed that businesses found operating outside the law will face firm action and that enforcement checks will continue across Singapore.
Members of the public who suspect illegal activities taking place at massage establishments are encouraged to report the matter to the authorities through the appropriate channels.
