A woman was filmed creating a disturbance at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), where she was heard loudly asking whether Singapore and Japan would “surrender” while making aggressive gestures towards travellers.
A video of the incident, which circulated online on Tuesday (18 August), showed the woman standing in the transit area of KLIA Terminal 1 while speaking loudly in Mandarin. The footage, which lasted around 22 seconds, captured her raising her arm and questioning passengers around her.
She was heard saying: “Will Singapore surrender? Will Japan surrender?”
The woman then appeared to point at people nearby while asking whether they were recording the incident or whether they were Chinese nationals.
Traveller claims woman made alarming statements during airport incident
According to the person who shared the footage on Reddit, the incident happened while passengers were queuing at a boarding gate.
The original poster claimed the woman had been livestreaming on TikTok before a man who appeared to know her took away her phone and attempted to move her away from the area.
The woman allegedly became agitated and continued shouting, including statements asking whether Malaysia would “surrender”. She was also said to have started a countdown during the incident.
At one point, while walking away from the crowd, she was heard making a threatening remark suggesting that if she died in Malaysia, “everyone would die together”.
The incident reportedly continued for around 15 minutes before the area became quiet. The traveller believed airport security officers may have intervened, although they could not confirm what happened afterwards as they had already entered the boarding area.
Online users call for investigation into airport disturbance
Following the video’s circulation, many online users criticised the woman’s behaviour and raised concerns about the seriousness of her remarks.
Some Reddit users speculated that she may have been attempting to draw attention to herself or force authorities to take action against her. Others pointed out that passengers entering the satellite terminal would generally require valid travel documents and a boarding pass.
Several commenters said statements involving threats at an international airport could lead to serious consequences, including questioning by law enforcement.
Airports around the world maintain strict security procedures, and any behaviour perceived as a potential threat can trigger security responses, investigations and possible legal action.
As of the time of reporting, Malaysian authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the KLIA incident or confirmed whether any arrests or investigations had taken place.
