News regarding the death of a nurse from the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) has been making its rounds on social media for a few days.
In response to the news, SGH has came out to urge the public not to speculate anymore on the events that happened leading to the death of its nurse.
Chief Nurse of SGH, Ms Ng Gaik Nai has said today (10 Dec) that SGH is aware of the social media posts which are circulating around.
Statement to the media
Ng added that SGH has reached out to the family of the deceased nurse to offer assistance in this difficult and trying period for them and they are also providing support to the colleagues of the deceased nurse who are affected by her death even as they are in mourning.
She hopes that the public can stop speculating on the death of the nurse out of respect to the deceased’s family as well as the SGH staff.
She added that SGH is also deeply saddened by the loss of a well-loved colleague and a bosom friend.
Post on social media
According to Today, the deceased nurse had an obituary posted on the social media pages such as Facebook and Instagram of activist group, Wake Up Singapore.
In the post, it was alleged that the deceased nurse committed suicide as she was struggling with mental health issues coupled with the stress that she faced for being unable to return to her home in Malaysia.
