Surajsrikan s/o Diwakar Mani Tripathi, the Singaporean who is facing a murder charge of stabbing a 38-year-old man appeared in High Court today for the Punggol Field murder case
20 year old, Surajsrikan Diwakar Mani Tripathi was charged over the stabbing of 38-year-old Tay Rui Hao near a bus stop in Punggol Field Road on May 10 at 11.08 pm. He previously underwent a psychiatric evaluation at Changi Prison Complex Medical Centre, where he was held for a week.
It was later revealed the Surajsrikan had a series of psychiatric issues.
He was sentenced earlier today to life imprisonment and 15 strokes of the rotan after pleading guilty to the murder.
What happened?
According to Today News, Surajsrikan was jogging along Sumang Walk lane but he carried his SAF knife with him.
While he was jogging at around 11 PM on 10 May 2020, he tripped and fell and became frustrated, Tay jogged past him and he vent his anger by chasing after Tay and stabbing him multiple times in the back.
Surajsrikan then escaped the scene and washed his knife and blood stains.
Tay was able to call 995 and paramedics found him laying in the grass bleeding seriously.
However, Tay died later from his injuries at about 12.30 AM
