In a seeming response to foreign volunteers joining Ukraine’s “international brigade” to fight Russia, Russian president Vladimir Putin has given go-ahead for volunteer fighters from the Middle East to join their invasion of Ukraine.
Sergei Shoigu, the Defence Minister of Russia said during a meeting of Russia’s Security Council, that they have 16,000 volunteers in the Middle East who are ready to fight alongside the Russian-backed forces in the Donbass region.
He also suggested that the Javelin and Stinger missiles captured by the Russian forces in Ukraine should be given to their forces in Donbass, with the missiles being made by Western forces.
Shoigu also said that Russia plans to reinforce their western border, claiming that there was an increase in Western forces on Russia’s border
Putin said that “if you see that there are these people who want of their own accord, not for money, to come to help the people living in Donbass, then we need to give them what they want and help them get to the conflict zone.”
