A netizen by the name of Praise Wong had posted a series of Instagram stories after she had accused a Grab Driver of allegedly cheating her.
The comments which she made on her Insta stories were full of ‘biased’ opinions against the Grab Driver and also the community he belonged to
What caused the insults
Wong had took a Grab one day and according to her, the driver, a Mr Abdul Aziz Bin Ahtam, had overcharged her on the ride by $7 as he was driving a larger vehicle (GrabXL).
This led to Wong saying that she rode a GrabXL on the previous day but was not charged the extra $7 in fares.
She then said that Grab had quoted her $13+ and started to call out the driver with expletives and even accused him for lying and cheating just for the tip and labelled him as ‘poor’.

On top of that, she even said that the driver insulted her back by calling her a ‘cheapo’ after she said that she was going to feedback to Grab about his behaviour and claimed that all her friends know her as a generous person.
She labelled his act of calling her a ‘cheapo’ as ‘libel’ and said that it was rude and disrespectful and should be fired for what he has done.
She also said that many people are dying to be a private hire driver and maybe he should not be having the privilege to earn this income.
She then tagged Grab in her Insta stories.

Grab reached out to her
Grab eventually reached out to Wong and provided her with a full refund, after initially replying to Wong’s Insta story.
A representative of Grab by the name of Nurul also emailed Wong with regards to her complain and said that it should not have happened to her in the first place.
Nurul also added that as a result of the driver’s actions, he has been ‘awarded’ a strike on his record and they will continue to monitor his behaviour to ensure that his behaviour does not repeat.
She added that if his behaviour start repeat, they will take further disciplinary action against the driver.
A sum of $18.30 was also refunded to Wong.
Wong also praised the customer service which she received from Grab.

Gets called out for her remarks towards the driver and his community
Despite getting what she wanted in the end, Wong was flamed by her friends and followers on Instagram for the remarks she made against the driver and his community.
Even so, she defended herself by saying that she was an ‘angry B’ and that her remarks against the driver and his community were ‘justifiable’.

She then went on to say that if the driver belonged to another community in Singapore, she will also have insulted them based on their community of origin.

In saying so, she said that Kumar the comedian also does the same and if he can do so, she does not see a problem in doing so.
