RAGING FIRE @ TELOK BLANGAH, SCDF FORCED THEIR WAY INTO UNIT TO FIGHT FIRE

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a statement on Facebook that a fire had broken out earlier today (3 August) at about 11.40am, at Block 92B Telong Blangah Street 31.

Firefighters from Alexandria Fire Station were activated to the scene and they conducted forcible entry into the unit and put out the fire using two water jets.

About 50 people were evacuated by the police from the affected block as a precautionary measure, and one person was assessed by the paramedics for smoke inhalation but refused to be sent to the hospital.

At about 11.40am today (3 Aug), SCDF was alerted to a fire at the above-mentioned location.

Upon SCDF’s arrival, the fire was raging and thick black smoke was emitting from a unit on the 11th floor.

Firefighters from Alexandra Fire Station conducted forcible entry into the unit and extinguished the fire using two water jets. As a result of the fire, the entire unit was affected by heat and smoke damage. Damping down operations are ongoing.

A person was assessed by an SCDF paramedic for smoke inhalation and subsequently refused conveyance to the hospital.

About 50 occupants from the affected block were evacuated by the Police and SCDF as a precautionary measure.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
