SAF 5-TONNER VEHICLE & TAXI COLLIDED @ PIONEER, TAXI DRIVER TRAPPED INSIDE

A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) vehicle and a ComfortDelGro taxi were involved in an accident Along Pioneer Road North on 8 November, according to Channel NewsAsia.

The taxi driver was trapped in the driver’s seat, before being rescued by the SCDF and sent to the hospital – police investigations are ongoing.

At least 2 SCDF vehicles were on site, along with traffic police officers and SAF personnel, who were helping out at the scene and talking to the police.

The SCDF said that they were alerted to the accident along Pioneer Road North at about 10.45am, and when they arrived, they found the taxi driver trapped in the driver’s seat.

They then rescued the driver using hydraulic equipment and he was then conveyed conscious to the National University Hospital.

The Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of ComfortDelGro, Tammy Tan, said that the taxi was travelling straight with the traffic light in its favour at the time.

The SAF vehicle then ran into the taxi from the opposite direction.

Tan said that they are in touch with the driver’s family and assisting the victim in his recuperation.

The Ministry of Defence also said that the SAF is aware of the accident and they are helping the police with their investigations.

They added that no SAF personnel were injured in the accident.
