exoffendersA message from the discipline master of a secondary school has brought attention to the public.

The message reads,

“Dear parents, this is an update from (the) school to the parents as advised by the Police. It is regarding a group of people who called themselves ‘The ex-offenders’. They would poach students at Clementi MRT or interchange to ‘donate’ a minimum sum of $10 to them.

If the students refused, they would search their bags or wallets for the money. It appears this group of people are also targeting the other parts of western Singapore.

If you child is a victim of this scam, please report it to the police immediately. If your child unfortunately met with this group of people, quickly walk away and report to the police. Thank you.”

Although the message has some grammar and spelling mistakes, we would advise parents to be wary of the situation.
