I work at a certain very popular Italian restaurant as a line cook. There are women in the kitchen and there is even a girl my age, I’ve worked here for a little more than half a year. +
I love cooking and have had a lot of positive experiences however the men I work with consistently treat me like I’ve never seen a kitchen.
I get explained the proper way to cut a bag open at least daily. they make jokes about me constantly, wont answer when i talk to them, and some will even go so far as to tell managers i can’t cook. managers that constantly give me more responsibility than the rest of them and are constantly praising me.
i know i do a good job but they all refuse to acknowledge it. i have a male friend i work with who is great. heres the think tho, i will say something and no one will respond, he says the same thing and gets an answer and its driving me insane.
ive tried being nice and i feel like theyre taking advantage of it so ive started being, well bitchy. they try to explain something simple to me i walk off. they dont answer i stop them from what their doing so they answer. its just exhausting.
i cant really quit cause they pay more than everyone else in town. anyways some advice on how to handle them would be nice. (sorry for the text block and weird format im on mobile)
