An entire family of 6, which included 3 generations of Singaporeans from the grandfather to the grandson of the family, died in a horrific freak accident along the North South Highway in Malaysia on Sunday.
The family is survived by the remaining grandmother of the family, who was inconsolable after learning of the death of all her kin.
She was heard screaming, “I don’t want to live anymore!”
According to Chinese dailies, the family had been travelling along the North South Highway on their way to pay their respects to their ancestors during Qing Ming. Along the way, a large truck toppled over and crushed the MPV that the family was travelling in, resulting in their deaths.
It was later reported by Malaysian papers that the 27 year-old truck driver had been previously been caught for drug offences, reckless driving and driving illegally without a license and insurance.
The six victims were Lam Wai Loon, 46, who was driving, his wife Wong Check Lee, 53, and their two sons Jie Yang, 19, and Jie Hong, 13, together with Wai Loon’s father Leong Choy, 76, and brother Wai Keat, 35.
