In a heart-wrenching incident that occurred on Friday, August 4th, a 23-year-old Singaporean motorcyclist tragically lost his life in a collision with a motor trailer on the Tuas Second Link.
A Devastating Collision
The accident transpired late at night, around 10:30pm, along the Tuas Second Link. The motorcyclist, identified as Mr. Mohamad Ilyas Ilyasa Mohamad Ismadi, was traveling alongside his pillion rider, Ms. Nur Surya Emelya Mohamad Imran, both heading toward Johor Bahru.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rahmat Ariffin revealed that the collision occurred when the motorbike collided with the rear of a motor trailer, resulting in both riders being flung onto the road.
Tragically, Mr. Ilyas lost his life at the scene of the accident. A distressing photo circulating on Telegram displayed a helmeted man lying on the road, with a pool of blood nearby, while another person was seen lying beside him.
While Mr. Ilyas lost his life, Ms. Nur Surya was fortunate to survive the collision, although she was rendered unconscious and subsequently hospitalized.
Her condition was reported to be stable, and she was expected to be discharged on Saturday, August 5th. Afterward, she was transferred to a Singaporean hospital for further care and recovery.
The grief-stricken family of the deceased took to social media to announce his untimely passing and they added that they are trying to bring the deceased motorcyclist’s body back to Singapore.
The emotional impact of the tragedy was palpable in the words of Mr. Ilyas’ father, Mohamad Ismadi. In a poignant Facebook post, he expressed the profound pain of having to bid his son farewell, capturing the essence of a father’s love and the irreplaceable loss he now faces.
He reminisced about his son, cherishing memories and wishing to hold onto the image of his beloved child just as he was.
