M’sian woman, 64, & husband, 27, celebrate 6 years of marriage, say they’ve never had a fight
A Malaysian couple with a 37-year age gap are drawing attention online after sharing that they have enjoyed six years of marriage without a single quarrel.
Norlida Mohamed Salleh, 64, and her husband, Muhd Sabree Razaman, 27, tied the knot in September 2020. At the time, Norlida was 58 while Sabree was 21.
Now six years into their marriage, the couple from Negeri Sembilan say their relationship remains strong due to open communication, mutual respect and understanding.
According to Malaysian media reports, the pair first became acquainted through a minimart where Norlida worked. Sabree, who lived in the same neighbourhood, was a regular customer and the two gradually grew closer over time.
Relationship began as friendship
Norlida said she had no intention of remarrying following the breakdown of her previous marriage in 2016. Initially, she viewed Sabree more like a son than a potential romantic partner.
However, their friendship eventually developed into a relationship, and she was won over by what she described as his sincerity and maturity.
Sabree revealed that Norlida was the first woman he had ever fallen in love with. He described her as his first love and said he never had any doubts about pursuing a future together despite their significant age difference.
The couple’s decision to marry was initially met with mixed reactions from family members. Norlida’s children were reportedly concerned at first, while Sabree’s family also struggled to accept the relationship in its early stages.
Family eventually accepted marriage
Over time, both families came to support the couple’s decision.
Sabree, who works as a school security guard, said he has always worked hard to provide for his wife and rejected suggestions that he married for financial reasons.
Norlida, who earns an income by taking kuih orders, said her husband continues to be caring and attentive. She shared that he often gives her a massage before heading to work and makes sure she is comfortable at home.
One of the most remarkable aspects of their relationship, according to Norlida, is that they have never had a fight throughout their six years of marriage.
She also revealed that she had previously encouraged Sabree to consider taking another wife so he could have children of his own, but he declined.
Sabree said he intends to remain by her side and take care of her for the rest of her life, while Norlida said she hopes to continue making him happy and prays for his health and well-being.
Their story has since attracted widespread attention online, with many netizens commenting on the couple’s commitment to one another despite the 37-year age gap.
