In a disturbing incident that has raised serious concerns about safety in social settings, a Singaporean man has been accused of spiking a woman’s drink at a bar in Hong Kong. The alleged attack occurred on the evening of October 24, and the woman, identified by her online handle “Hana小屁娜,” reported the incident to the Hong Kong police shortly thereafter.
Hana, 27, shared her harrowing experience on social media, including a screenshot of CCTV footage that appears to show the man hovering his hand over her drink. She had traveled to Hong Kong from Tokyo, hoping to secure a job in the cryptocurrency sector, and had met the accused at a fintech event earlier in the year. Their acquaintance had led to a meeting at the bar, where Hana believed she was discussing potential job opportunities.
During their meeting, Hana recounted that the man expressed dissatisfaction with his marriage, revealing personal details about his family life. After a brief bathroom break, she returned to find the man had left the table, only to be warned by a waitress who suspected he had tampered with her drink. Despite her initial disbelief, Hana decided to stay at the table, requesting a new drink from the waitress.
Upon the man’s return, he allegedly urged Hana to finish her drink quickly, which raised her suspicions further. Feeling increasingly unwell, Hana stepped outside the bar, where the man reportedly attempted to persuade her to accompany him to his hotel suite, offering her cryptocurrency tokens in exchange for her company.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Hana managed to escape when a taxi arrived. Following the incident, she filed a police report and retrieved the CCTV footage as evidence. The footage reportedly confirmed her fears, showing the man spiking her drink multiple times.
In response to the allegations, DWF Labs, the cryptocurrency trading company where the man was a partner, announced his immediate dismissal. The company expressed its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all individuals and stated that it would continue to monitor the situation closely.
The managing partner of DWF Labs, Andrei Grachev, expressed shock upon viewing the footage and indicated that the company is considering further legal actions against the accused. Meanwhile, the man’s employment with Open Eden Labs, another company he was associated with, has also been terminated.
Hana’s experience has sparked a broader conversation about safety in social environments, particularly for women. She emphasized the importance of vigilance and trusting one’s instincts, urging others to be cautious, even in seemingly professional settings.
As investigations continue, the community remains on alert, advocating for measures to ensure the safety of individuals in social situations. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can arise and the need for awareness and proactive measures to protect oneself.
