
Three men and two women, ages 17 and 22, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a case of voluntarily causing severe harm with a dangerous weapon.
A fight was reported at Blk 19 Jalan Sultan at 1.30 a.m. on September 20, 2021. A 19-year-old guy was discovered with lacerations on his head, upper torso, and hand when police arrived. He was then transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Prior to the arrival of the police, the assailants had gone. As a case exhibit, a knife was also confiscated.
Officers from the Central Police Division and the Criminal Investigation Department identified the identity of the people engaged in the attack and detained them between September 20 and 22, 2021, based on follow-up investigations and pictures from police and CCTV cameras.
A 19-year-old male will be accused in court on September 23, 2021, with willfully causing severe harm with a dangerous weapon, which is punishable under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
The offence entails a penalty of life imprisonment, or a period of imprisonment up to 15 years and/or a fine, as well as caning.
Investigations are ongoing.
