S’PORE CAR CAUGHT TRYING TO SMUGGLE MORE THAN 1.4K VAPES @ WOODLANDS CHECKPOINT

The Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a statement on Facebook posted on 3 February that they foiled a smuggling attempt.

ICA officers foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,452 e-vaporisers into Singapore at the Woodlands Checkpoint on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year, on 24 January.

Officers suspected that the vehicle had contraband hidden inside and directed the car for an x-ray scan, where they found anomalies and discovered the concealed vape products.

The case has since been referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigations.

On 24 Jan 2023, the 3rd day of Chinese New Year, ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,452 e-vaporisers into Singapore.

Notwithstanding the heavy traffic during the holiday season, ICA officers conducted initial checks on a Singapore-registered car and found an e-vaporiser in the vehicle.

Upon further inspection, our vigilant officers suspected that contrabands could be hidden in the vehicle and directed for a thorough X-ray scan. Anomalies were detected in the scanned images and 1,452 e-vaporisers were found concealed in-between various compartments of the car.

The case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigations.
