S’PORE HOUSEHOLDS TO GET $500 CDC VOUCHERS IN JUNE

One of the biggest announcements is the early release of $500 CDC vouchers for all Singaporean households. The vouchers were originally planned for January 2027, but the Government decided to push them forward to June 2026 due to growing concerns over inflation and higher daily expenses.

The support package comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which have caused oil prices to surge globally. This has affected electricity costs, imported food prices, transport expenses and business operating costs in Singapore.

The vouchers can be used at participating heartland shops, hawker stalls and supermarkets, helping residents offset everyday expenses while also supporting local businesses and neighbourhood merchants.

GOVERNMENT SAYS MORE HELP MAY COME IF SITUATION WORSENS

Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said the Government is prepared to do even more if the economic situation worsens. He noted that Singapore cannot fully control external global events, but authorities are closely monitoring the impact on residents and businesses.

Nearly S$1 billion has reportedly been set aside for these additional support measures on top of the already massive Budget 2026 package.

Besides the CDC vouchers, eligible Singaporeans will also receive higher Cost-of-Living Special Payments later in the year. Around 2.4 million Singaporeans are expected to receive between S$400 and S$600 in cash payouts in September 2026.

EXTRA SUPPORT FOR DRIVERS, HDB HOUSEHOLDS & BUSINESSES

The June support measures are not limited to households alone.

Platform workers, taxi drivers and private-hire vehicle drivers will receive S$200 cash payouts to help manage rising petrol costs. The Government also plans to provide additional utility rebates for eligible HDB households to reduce the impact of rising electricity bills.

Meanwhile, businesses will receive enhanced corporate tax rebates to help them deal with increased operating costs and maintain jobs.

The Government stressed that these support measures are designed to ensure Singaporeans are not left struggling alone during uncertain economic conditions. Officials also hinted that further financial assistance, energy subsidies or household support packages may be introduced if global energy prices continue climbing through the second half of 2026.
