The incident, which occurred outside the 1 Million Hotel, not only resulted in the loss of essential belongings but also left a lasting impact on Chea and his companion, Lisa Hairanee Bidin.

Lisa then shared the CCTV footage of the robbery onto her TikTok page @hairaneebidin.

Details of the Snatch Theft

On September 16, as Chea and Hairanee were walking back to their hotel after breakfast, a motorcyclist and his pillion rider executed a snatch theft.

Chea’s sling bag, containing his passport, phone, and RM500 in cash, along with an additional $200 Singapore dollars, was forcefully taken. Despite the victims’ attempts to give chase, the thieves managed to escape, leaving the friends in shock.

Immediate Actions Taken

Hairanee and Chea, shocked by the sudden turn of events, promptly reported the incident to the Johor police. However, despite their efforts, there has been no tangible outcome from the ongoing investigation, leaving the victims in a state of uncertainty and frustration.

The snatch theft had profound implications for the victims’ travel plans. Originally intending to stay in Malaysia until Sunday, September 17, the duo decided to cut short their trip due to the loss of Chea’s passport. The unforeseen circumstance forced them to return to Singapore sooner than planned.

Emotional Toll on the Victims

The emotional toll on Hairanee and Chea is evident, with both expressing trauma in the aftermath of the incident. The loss of personal items and the violation of their sense of security has left a lasting impact, leading to a mutual decision to avoid returning to Johor Bahru.
