Liang, aged 47, was attacked by five assailants armed with air guns, enduring a brutal assault that saw him being shot about 20 times, according to Shin Min Daily News.

But the nightmare didn’t end there; he was also struck on the head with a wine bottle, before his wife and kid were both taken from him.

This brutal incident took place on March 8, 2022, at the family’s villa in Mae Sot, Thailand.

A New Beginning in Thailand

Liang’s journey to Thailand was initially driven by business prospects. In 2018, he ventured to the land of smiles to sell health care products. During his time in Thailand, he met his wife and decided to invest nearly S$200,000 for her to open a grocery shop.

He was later introduced to a 29-year-old man named Chairat Setthiwanit by his wife, to discuss a business involving the sale of cars, but it didn;t work out.

The Impact of the Pandemic

As the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, Liang found himself unable to travel to Thailand, and this period marked a turning point in his life. He began to notice an increasing level of interaction between his wife and Chairat, which raised suspicions.

Liang’s growing concerns about the relationship between his wife and Chairat led to a pivotal decision. In September 2021, he arranged for someone to pick up his wife and child from Mae Sot and move them to Bangkok.

It was time for an ultimatum – he asked his wife to choose either him or Chairat, and his wife chose him, claiming that she was forced to get close to Chairat because he was a gangster.

The family then returned to their original home in Mae Sot instead of the planned move to Bangkok, and they lived peacefully for a while before Chairat returned to take revenge on the night of 8 March 2022.

A Night of Horror

On that fateful night, Chairat and his 22-year-old younger brother Chajita, along with three other men, scaled the wall of Liang’s residence.

They proceeded to the master bedroom and kicked down the door, rushing inside and shooting Liang with an air rifle and an air gun, as they also punched and kicked him, and smashed a wine bottle on his head.

His wife got her knees and begged Chairat to spare Liang’s life, before Chairat told her to leave with him with her child.

After they left, Liang reached out to his friends and was sent to the hospital. He suffered more than 20 gunshot wounds from the air rifles on his back.

He also reported the incident to the police, although it was not disclosed how he was eventually caught.
