Director and co-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DC Studios, James Gunn, is set to revamp the DC Universe (DCU) by introducing new superheroes that have yet to have their own adaption in movies.
Superheroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman have already gotten their big screen adaptation that culminated in the blockbuster Justice League movies.
Now DC studios is focusing on other new superheroes.
James Gunn said in an announcement video on Twitter posted on 1 February, about the upcoming plans that he has in store for future DC projects.
Among the many new superhero movies to be featured includes the film “The Authority”, which features a Singaporean superhero.
The Authority is a team of superheroes led by Jenny Quantum, also known as the Spirit of the 21st Century, who was born on 1 January 2000 in Singapore.
The superhero wears a top with a Singapore flag emblazoned on it, proud of her heritage despite her citizenship being listed as American.
She possesses the powers of flight, teleportation and quantum power blasts.
The superhero team, The Authority, includes the team members Jack Hawksmoor, who gets his powers from the energy of the cities that he’s in; Apollo, the equivalent of Superman; the Midnighter, who is almost invulnerable after getting his powers from medical enhancements; Swift, who has senses like a bird and can fly; The Engineer, who replaced her blood with nanotechnology; and The Doctor, a sorcerer.
