Taiwan which has a strict zero COVID-19 policy has recently changed its strategies to opening its borders for migrant workers. Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center(CECC) said earlier today (Feb 7) that they will be allowing migrant workers from the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand to enter the country.
Head of CECC, Chen Shih-Chung stated that the conditions to enter the country as a worker includes
- Full vaccination, uploading the certs to Ministry of Labor
- Employers to arrange 14 days quarantine
- First come first serve basis based on those who get their visas earlier
How about regular travellers?
This comes as great news as many believes that it is a step closer to reopening its borders to regular travellers.
Recently, the Singapore Trade Office In Taipei stated that the European Commission will recognize Singapore and Taiwan’s digital COVID-19 vaccination and test certificates.
Stating that both countries will both Singapore and Taiwan will recognize each other countries vaccine certificates and it is a step towards easing border measures.
However, many travellers indicated that travellers from Taiwan to Singapore are only required to be vaccinated and are able to enter Singapore freely but not the other way round.
Holiday in Taiwan?
Experts believed that as Taiwan slowly opens up regular tourist travellers will be allowed to.
But most believe it is not anytime soon.
