Livestreaming has emerged as one of the more popular ways of making good money, as exhibited by Singapore’s getai veteran who transitioned to live streaming to make sales.

A kindergarten teacher in China, Ms Huang, recently earned 10 years’ worth of her salary in just 1 live stream and decided to change her career after that.

According to The Oriental Daily, Huang was a kindergarten teacher teaching children in the city of Wuhan in the Hubei province.

She had initially started by posting videos of herself singing nursery rhymes to the children on the Chinese social media platform Douyin.

Her videos soon gained traction and virality, with one of her videos even exceeding more than 10 million views – she had garnered herself a following online through her expressive gestures in her videos, urging her students to sing along with her.

Netizens then urged Huang to try her hand at live streaming, which she eventually agreed to.

Much to her surprise, in her first live stream, she managed to rake in a whopping 400,000 yuan (or SGD$76,454) to 500,000 yuan (or SGD$95,579).

That amount was said to be about 10 years worth of her previous salary as a kindergarten teacher, with estimated figures being around 3,000 yuan (or SGD$$573) per month, according to Oriental Daily.

On top of that, Huang also received a few virtual gifts from her viewers, (which can be exchanged for money) during the live stream, and she started crying as she thanked her fans profusely.

Huang then resigned from her position as a kindergarten teacher and began her career as a full time influencer instead, reportedly signing a contract with an influencer management company.

However, some naysayers have been less than supportive of her career move, saying that once the novelty of live streaming dies down, her earnings would diminish instead.
