
Nigel Pang Yew Ming, 18, and his friend, 17, each pleaded guilty on JUly 16 to one count of being a public nuisance and were sentenced to nine months probation, with their parents bonded for $5,000 to ensure their good behavior.
The 17-year-old boy cannot be named due to the Children and Young Persons Act, where teenagers below 18-years-old cannot be named in news reports.
The two boys will also have to perform 60 hours of community service and must be at home from 10pm to 6am everyday for the duration of the probation.
The two teenagres went to a FairPrice outlet at Bukit Batok West Avenue 7 on February 6.
Pang then took two bottles of fruit juice from the shelf and sampled both drinks before placing them back on the shelf.
The 17-year-old boy filmed the whole thing and posted it onto Instagram, with the caption (how to spead Wuhan virus).
The video then went viral after someone reposted it and it caused public alarm and concern, with a police report made on February 8 by a 21-year-old woman.
