A 26-year-old Thai influencer with more than 200,000 followers on TikTok was allegedly shot dead by her former boyfriend while speaking to her current partner over a video call.
The victim, known online as Pon, was found beside her white Honda Jazz in Thailand’s Saraburi province on June 8. Authorities said she suffered gunshot wounds to her neck and back.
Her two-year-old child, who was inside the vehicle during the incident, was found unharmed by emergency responders.
Argument Reportedly Heard During Video Call
According to local reports, Pon had been driving when her vehicle began running low on fuel.
Her former boyfriend, a 42-year-old man identified as Beer, allegedly contacted her and offered to meet her with a fuel canister to help refuel the vehicle.
While the pair were reportedly at the roadside, Pon was speaking to her current partner, Kla, through a video call.
Kla later told investigators that he heard the pair arguing before multiple gunshots rang out. Moments later, the phone fell to the ground and the call abruptly disconnected.
Police officers responding to the scene recovered several spent 9mm shell casings near the victim’s vehicle.
Beer allegedly fled the area immediately after the shooting in a truck.
Relationship Dispute And Job Loss Under Investigation
Investigators believe the incident may have been linked to both personal and workplace disputes.
According to reports, Pon and Kla previously had a relationship and share a child together. After separating, Pon began dating Beer before eventually ending the relationship and reconciling with Kla.
Police believe Beer was unhappy with the breakup.
Authorities are also investigating claims that Pon had previously informed her employer about alleged misconduct involving Beer. The complaint reportedly resulted in him losing his job several days before the fatal incident.
Investigators suspect both factors may have contributed to the alleged motive behind the shooting.
Suspect Found Dead Following Police Pursuit
Following the incident, police tracked the suspect’s vehicle travelling along the Friendship Highway in Nakhon Ratchasima province.
A pursuit was launched after officers located the truck.
The chase came to an end when the vehicle’s tyre reportedly failed, forcing it to stop.
When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered Beer dead inside. Authorities believe he had taken his own life before police could make an arrest.
Local media also reported that he had contacted a friend shortly before the incident to borrow money, allegedly to help fund an escape.
Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion across Thailand, with many social media users expressing shock over the tragedy, particularly as the victim’s young child was present during the fatal confrontation.
