Woman Riding Motorcycle with New Boyfriend Seriously Shot in Southern Thailand
A violent incident occurred recently in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, southern Thailand, when a 24-year-old woman was shot while riding pillion on a motorcycle with her new boyfriend. Initial reports suggest the attack may be linked to jealousy involving the woman’s former partner.
Shooting Took Place on Pa Yang Tha Din Daeng Road
The incident happened last night on Pa Yang Tha Din Daeng Road in Ko Khan sub-district, Cha-uat district. The victim, identified as Ms Pandha, was struck twice in the left chest by 9mm bullets, sustaining severe injuries.
Police found three 9mm shell casings at the scene. One of the bullets also hit a nearby glass workshop, shattering 22 large glass panes, causing significant property damage.
Witnesses and Immediate Response
Local residents, including Ms Kanya, were initially confused by the loud noises, thinking something had fallen or broken. Soon, they realised gunshots had been fired and saw Ms Pandha wounded. Emergency services were called, and the woman was rushed to hospital.
Possible Motive and Investigation
Police investigations revealed that the woman is originally from the northeastern region of Thailand but had recently been dating a man from Cha-uat district named Mr Jong. Mr Jong reportedly has a criminal record and is currently incarcerated.
Before the shooting, Ms Pandha was riding with Mr Jong, heading to deliver kratom leaves to a customer. Two assailants on motorcycles allegedly chased and blocked them, firing five shots. Ms Pandha was hit twice, while Mr Jong escaped without injury after abandoning the motorcycle and fleeing into nearby woods.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether the shooting was related to the ex-partner’s jealousy or other personal conflicts. The investigation is ongoing.
