
Earlier today, Thailand’s Prime Minister said that Thailand will be in an emergency mode from March 26 for a month to deal with the coronavirus outbreak.
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said the Cabinet agreed today at its weekly meeting to put a one-month state of emergency into effect on Thursday.
The emergency decree allows the prime minister to have the executive power to declare further measures to contain the virus such as setting up further restrictions or a lockdown, curfew and even censoring the media, laws against gatherings and enforcing with military might.
He said details of the measures will be announced later.
Thailand has four death cases and a total of 827 confirmed coronavirus cases.
