THIEVES IN INDIA PRETEND TO BE CONTRACTORS, STEAL 500 TONNE IRON BRIDGE

The Indian police said on 9 April that a gang of scrap metal thieves took apart a 500-tonne iron bridge in Eastern India and stole it by pretending to be irrigation workers.

The incident happened in Bihar, India; which is one of the poorest places in India.

Subhash Kumar, a police officer in India, spoke to AFP that the thieves pretending to be government irrigation officials.

THey took apart the defunct bridge with bulldozers and gas cutters, and took off with the scrap metal over a period of 2 days.

They then took away the scrap metal in a heavy vehicle.

Thieves have been stealing from the bridge that is 50-years-old, ever since the government built another bridge nearby about 5 years ago.

An investigation into the incident has been launched, but at the time of writing, no one has been arrested yet.
