TRANSPORT SCAM: BOOKING VEHICLE TO JOHOR AND BACK TO SINGAPORE

Travelling without a personal behaviour can be a hassle and many Malaysians opt to find a private car that can get them through the customs and back home to their destination.

A Malaysian netizen posted a question if there are any reliable transport services from Singapore back to Malaysia. The post-trigger comments stated that there are many scammers offering cheap rides back into Malaysia but they end up getting scammed.

How the scam works

The scammer will typically require the victim to pay a 100 ringgit or $50 deposit for the transport and after transferring it to the scammer they will block the victim.

Zao Bao previously reported that a couple cheated 100 ringgit after they saw a promotion advertisement stating round trip rides for S$200.

Although it is not a huge amount what matters most is the disruption to the trip. Imagine planning a trip of going to Malaysia only to find out that there will be no transportation on the date of departure.
