Singapore is a very clean country but there are always one or two that misbehave. A netizen recently confronted an elderly man for spitting in a carpark, only to get a sarcastic feedback.
Saw the most disgusting driver. Spit and blew his nose on the floor as he was sitting in the car at Clementi Mall on 18 Apr at 5:30pm. I witnessed it and scolded him. Old man became sarcastic and thanked me for being ‘righteous’. Had to correct him, it was for the sake of public hygiene lah, uncle
Penalties:
To maintain a hygienic environment, spitting in the public compounds is prohibited. The penalty for non-compliance is a fine of up to S$1,000 for a first offence. The fine for a second offence is up to S$2,000 and for the third and subsequent offences the fine is up to S$5,000.
