The incident took place on May 19 at the resort located in Sentosa. According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force, emergency services were alerted to 30 Sentosa Gateway at about 10:35am.

One person was subsequently conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for treatment.

The performer was reportedly involved with the WaterWorld attraction, one of the long-running stunt shows at the popular Singapore tourist destination.

In a statement quoted by local media, Resorts World Sentosa said the performer appeared to be in noticeable distress during a training session.

Fellow performers and staff members reportedly rushed to assist him immediately before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

The resort did not disclose the exact nature of the medical emergency. However, it confirmed that the performer was employed by an external show vendor managing performances at WaterWorld.

On May 26, Resorts World Sentosa confirmed that the performer had passed away in hospital.

The company said it was “deeply saddened” by the death and extended condolences to the man’s family, colleagues and fellow performers during what it described as a very difficult time.

Resort Reviewing Circumstances Behind Incident

Resorts World Sentosa also shared that a review is currently being conducted together with the deceased performer’s employer to better understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The company added that safety protocols are in place during training sessions and performances.

Meanwhile, the Singapore Police Force said preliminary investigations found no suspicion of foul play.

Police investigations are still ongoing.

According to the official Resorts World Sentosa website, WaterWorld is currently temporarily closed until the end of 2026.

Previous WaterWorld Incident Drew Attention In 2023

This is not the first time a WaterWorld performance has drawn public attention.

Back in 2023, a performer reportedly experienced discomfort during a live stunt performance, causing the show to be halted temporarily.

Witnesses at the time claimed the performer appeared to have sustained an injury after landing awkwardly in shallow water during a stunt sequence.

The attraction resumed operations shortly after, with the performer eventually returning to work following a period of recovery.

WaterWorld remains one of the most recognisable live stunt attractions at Universal Studios Singapore, known for its action scenes, pyrotechnics and water-based performances.
