The Ministry of Health (MOH) provided an update to their 20 November press release, adding that unvaccinated persons will not be allowed to use Pre-Event Testing (PET) to enter Vaccinated-differentiated Safe Management Measures (VDS) places from 2022.
They explained that this is to protect the unvaxxed from infection because they are at a bigger risk of contracting severe illnesses.
With effect from 1 January 2022
At the moment, those who are unvaccinated can enter VDS places with a negative PET result.
However, this will no longer be the case from 1 January 2022.
Under the updated guidelines, only those who are fully vaccinated, recovered from the coronavirus and medically ineligible to get vaccinated will be allowed to enter VDS places such as hawker centres, coffee shops and etcetera.
Children under 12-years-old will also be allowed to enter VDS places.
This means that those who are unvaccinated by choice have about a little over a month to get themselves fully vaccinated before the rule change takes effect.
