According to UOB bank Facebook page, they had filed a police report against a person who made provocative comments on social media while pretending to be a UOB staff.
This came after a Facebook user “Amit Verma” writing a Facebook comment calling Singaporeans “Singapoo People” and labelling Singaporeans as lazy.
Ever since the comment surfaced on social media, UOB has received numerous comments on their Facebook page to give an explanation on the behaviour of their supposed staff. UOB has clarified that the “Amit Verma” is not employed under the bank.
In their post:
“A Facebook user “Amit Verma”, claiming to be a UOB employee, has been posting inflammatory and provocative comments on social media. There is no such employee at UOB and we do not tolerate such behaviour.
We have reported this to Facebook and the Singapore Police Force who are investigating the matter.
We respectfully ask that you not be drawn into anti-social comments or repost content that divides us.”
