Help! Neighbour issues again
Sorry, just have to ask. I had been going thru hell with a neighbour from upstairs. Yet again, the furniture dragging and things dropping is getting worst.
To be honest, this had been going on for months. Just this morning, they instantly drag furniture at 430am! It woke me up and i couldn’t go back to sleep.
I confronted the neighbour above me, they say it wasnt them. They have a baby. I don’t think it’s them too. I just couldn’t pin point the excact unit the noise is coming from. And this is driving me insane.
I reported the matter to hdb, town council but yet to get the matter resolved.
For those of you redditors, how do guise handle it? If you have experience in this, whats ur case like? What do you do? I need solutions to my misery as it had been going thru this for months!
Oh btw, does writing a note and pasting it at the lift area works? I’ll just write a note, to inform whoever in a nicely way. Will that helps?
I dont wanna fight with my neighbours, seriously. But this dragging of furniture had to stop. Enough is enough.

- Might be from downstairs actually, sound travels strange. Best to ask around and talk to your neighbours to figure it out. Unfortunately I dont think hdb or the town council can realistically do something about this. They could make mediation efforts but that would just sour the relationship between neighbours. Just look for the origin and communicate properly, pasting a note might have unintended results as it may come across a little paggro.
- For a few years, I had to deal with an extremely aggressive neighbour (who lived in the unit just below mine) who insisted that I was dragging furniture around and that my kids were dropping heavy objects onto the floor. He kept hearing weird ‘thumping sounds’ late into the night.
Every time he came upstairs to yell at me through my front door and demand that I keep the noise down, I would drag my weary body out of bed (this was usually past midnight and I would be fast asleep) and yell back at him that it wasn’t me making all the noise (which I couldn’t hear in any case) and tell him to go away.
Finally, he made a complaint to the HDB, and after some research, they found out that the noise was actually coming from a flat two floors BELOW his.
