A 46-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing a 43-year-old woman during an incident at a residential block in Bukit Merah on the evening of Jul. 4.
Police said they received multiple calls for assistance at around 7.40pm at Block 7 Kim Tian Place. Upon arriving at the scene, officers established that a 46-year-old woman had allegedly injured another woman using a knife.
The victim, aged 43, was taken conscious to hospital for treatment. Police confirmed that both women were known to each other.
The suspect was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons. A knife believed to have been used in the incident was seized as evidence.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
Relationship Dispute Allegedly Led To Confrontation
According to Chinese-language daily Shin Min Daily News, the two women were previously involved in a relationship that had recently ended.
When reporters visited the scene, bloodstains were reportedly visible at the void deck of the housing block, indicating where the altercation had taken place.
A domestic helper said to be employed by the arrested woman told reporters that her employer had been in a relationship with the victim for about five years.
She claimed that the relationship had deteriorated recently, with the victim allegedly blocking her employer’s phone number and taking their two-year-old child to stay at her father’s home.
The helper said her employer wanted to see the child and had gone to the location to speak with her former partner in person.
Argument Escalated Before Alleged Attack
According to the helper, she remained nearby while the two women spoke. However, the discussion allegedly became increasingly heated.
What began as a conversation reportedly escalated into a serious dispute, culminating in the stabbing incident.
Police have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the alleged attack, and investigations remain ongoing.
If convicted of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons, offenders in Singapore face severe penalties under the law, including lengthy imprisonment and caning where applicable.
Authorities have not released the identities of either woman involved in the case.
