A woman in Malaysia has sparked outrage online after she was allegedly seen kicking a kitten into the air following an argument with a group of youths who were feeding stray cats at a rest and recreation (R&R) stop.
The incident was first shared on Threads by one of the youths involved, who claimed she and her friends had stopped to feed a mother cat and several kittens when the woman approached them and questioned what they were doing.
According to the account, the group initially believed the woman was upset because the feeding area had become untidy. They reportedly assured her they would clean up once the cats had finished eating.
Argument Escalated Suddenly
The youth alleged that the woman repeatedly questioned why they were spending money feeding stray cats, asking what benefit there was in doing so.
She replied that helping hungry animals was simply an act of kindness. Moments later, the woman allegedly became angry and kicked one of the kittens, sending it flying several metres away.
The incident happened so quickly that those present were left stunned and did not immediately react. The youth later said everyone was in shock over what they had witnessed.
Witness Says He Stepped In
A separate Threads user, who said he witnessed the incident while waiting for his child at the same R&R, later shared his own version of events.
According to the man, the woman also approached him and questioned why the group was feeding the cats. After he responded that the animals were simply hungry, he allegedly watched her walk towards the youths before kicking one of the kittens.
He said he immediately confronted the woman, telling her she had no right to treat the animals that way. The woman allegedly walked away while making a remark about someone replacing the rice she had “lost”, leaving the witness confused about what she meant.
Kitten Thankfully Survived

The youth who first shared the incident later comforted the frightened kitten before placing it back near the food. She said the animal was fortunate to have landed on the ground instead of hitting a nearby stone bench.
Despite the frightening encounter, the kitten reportedly recovered quickly and resumed eating after calming down. The other cats, however, had run off after being startled by the incident.
In a later update, the youth said she returned to the same R&R before heading back to Johor to check on the cats. She confirmed that all of them, including the kitten that had allegedly been kicked, were safe and active.
Witness Calls For Stronger Action Against Animal Cruelty
Speaking after the incident, the witness said the woman did not apologise or show any remorse after being confronted.
Although he had wanted to lodge a report, he said he was unable to do so as he had to rush home to help with preparations for a family wedding. He was also unsure if anyone else had informed the authorities or the management of the rest stop.
The witness expressed hope that the incident would encourage more people to speak up against animal abuse instead of remaining silent. He also suggested that designated feeding areas could help those who care for stray animals keep public spaces clean while ensuring the animals are fed safely.
The incident has since attracted widespread attention on social media, with many netizens condemning the alleged abuse and praising the witness for intervening. Others also welcomed the update confirming that the kitten was unharmed, saying they were relieved the animal did not suffer serious injuries.
